How to naturally feel confident using hypnotherapy. Self
confidence is a state of mind which you can access anywhere,
anytime.
Hypnotherapy can be used to improve self confidence in so many
areas of your life. You can feel incredibly comfortable talking to people
you’ve never met before, actually enjoying their company and attention and
generally deal with life’s situations far more effectively because you're calm,
relaxed and have a real sense of belief in your abilities. If you feel
uncertain about something, you can place yourself into a trance and use powerful
techniques to create a shift in your perceptions, which in turn creates new
beliefs and expectations about how confident you can feel in that situation.
By the time you have reached the age of 17, you
have heard “No you can’t” an average of 150,000 times and “yes you can"
only 5000 times.
A lack of self confidence can have a tremendous impact on our
enjoyment of life and indeed success. It can be immensely frutstrating when you feel out of control of how you want to experienc a situation, that is, wanting to
talk confidently and feel calm and relaxed. Wanting to feel like you are
able to make the right decisions without doubting your ability to do so.
Confidence, or a lack of it is such a subjective experience. In other
words it really depends on the situation. I have witnessed managers of
blue chip companies who appear to be really confident when giving
presentations in front of large groups of people but when it comes to a
social gathering, they begin to show signs of being uncomfortable and
unconfident.
So if you’re looking to go about improving self confidence, let me
tell you why you feel the way you do.
Pattern matching
We are pattern-matching machines. This is how we learn. Whatever we
experience, we file away to use in the future so we know how to respond
and interact with any environment that is in some way similar.
If we make a complete fool of ourselves in front of others, when
asked a simple question, we might experience embarrassment or shame. Our
mind files away this experience along with the emotional content that is
attached to this experience. The next time you are asked a question in
front of attentive people (not the same people but a similar situation),
those related emotions can resurface and you re-experience embarrassment
and shame.
Over time you begin developing a belief that you cannot talk
confidently in front of people because you are ashamed and embarrassed.
It begins to affect your behaviour, you start to stutter, feel flustered, avoid eye contact, voice trembles and your subconscious recognises it as a dangerous situation.
Hypnotherapy and self confidence
Is it really possible improving self confidence? Hypnotherapy has the
fantastic advantage of communicating with the subconscious mind where
all your beliefs, attitudes and behaviours are stored. It’s 100% safe
and a very natural state you can access to create lasting change.
When your subconscious mind is in conflict with the conscious mind,
the subconscious inevitably wins! As much as you try to tell yourself to
be more confident and to remain calm and relaxed, you may very well find
it just doesn’t have any effect. The reason? Because your subconscious
pattern matches and recognises the situation as ‘dangerous’ and tries to
step in and rescue you from harm. You in turn experience a ‘fight or
flight’ response and experience typical symptoms of heart beating faster,
respiration rate increasing, sweating etc.
So if these are subconscious responses, then shouldn’t we be looking
here to make changes?
Hypnotherapy creates powerful shifts in your awareness and perception,
which in turn rewires your subconscious mind to look out for everything
that signals the message “I am confident!” This in turn forms the belief
“I am a confident person”.
These changes can occur in as few as 3 to 4 sessions but this is only a guideline as it can vary from person to person. Nobody will have supreme confidence in every situation and there will be times when you get knocked back but apart from the overall increase of self confidence with hypnotherapy, there will be a marked difference in how you are able to shrug things off and march steadily onwards.
So how does it actually happen? How do we use
hypnotherapy for self confidence?
Power of imagination
I’d like you to go ahead and try the following out and realise just
how powerful the way we think affects the way we feel and behave. Please
read through the description before actually trying it:
Anxious state
- Think of a situation you lack self confidence in, nothing
traumatic, just a sense of being rather uncomfortable.
- Close your eyes and as you remember this time and place, seeing
what you saw, hearing what you heard, make the images larger and
brighter making any sounds louder – take a few moments to do this.
- Notice how you feel. If it’s making you anxious, where do you
notice this anxiety happening? Is it in the stomach, face, chest or
somewhere else?
Relaxed/confident state
- Now for something much nicer! Think of something you do that you
really enjoy, it could be a hobby you have, some activity you really
have fun doing, football, swimming, stamp collecting, something you
feel certain about. If I were to ask you a question about it, you’d
be able to answer it with a real feeling of certainty because you’re
absolutely sure about it.
- Good, now close your eyes and remember the last time you were in
this situation enjoying yourself feeling really confident, make
everything larger than life, the colours brighter, the sounds louder
and begin to notice how you feel this time.
- Ask yourself this time, how do I know I’m relaxed and confident?
Where in the body do I feel this confidence or relaxed feeling?
Go ahead now and try those two exercises out.
You should now begin to appreciate how much of an effect our
imagination has on the way we feel. This is where change occurs and
imagination plays a large role in hypnotherapy. Self confidence can be
re-engineered back into your life by using the imaginative/subconscious
part of your mind.
Improving self confidence
If your subconscious imagines and expects you to be calm and relaxed
when talking to others or making decisions, then by way of a
self-fulfilling prophecy, that’s exactly the way you feel.
When you begin to notice how much stronger your voice sounds as it
moves from being jittery to calm, clear and strong, or how you are able
to make just the right amount of eye contact while you are able to pique
the interest of others, hanging off your every word, or perhaps wonder
how people will react positively to your fantastic sense of humour, or
have a real sense of certainty about the decisions you make, then you
know your subconscious has instilled a new set of desired behaviours and
beliefs.
Improving self confidence, hypnotherapy can show you how to access
this resource anywhere, anytime using powerful techniques you can use to
almost magically switch confidence on.
By reprogramming your subconscious mind during your sessions with
hypnotherapy, self confidence will be something you can look forward to
using in any area of your life simply because your subconscious mind has
a new and improved version of reality.
